The Exhibition:

Mind your mind reúne fotografías de varias artistas publicadas en C International Photo Magazine, colección de libros dedicada a la fotografía de carácter semestral y editada por Ivorypress (www.ivorypress.com). En esta exposición, la artista conceptual americana Zoe Strauss (C PHOTO 9) interpreta de manera distintiva la América del siglo veintiuno en la serie de fotografías de su proyecto inconcluso I-95. La fotógrafa británica Polly Borland (C PHOTO 7) se infiltra en el mundo privado de sus, a menudo inusuales, protagonistas desvelando la verdad que subyace en el
absurdo desde una perspectiva que transmite empatía y familiaridad. Lina Scheynius (C PHOTO 9), fotógrafa autodidacta de origen sueco, presenta trabajos que retratan las posibilidades emocionales y estéticas que se esconden en el día a día, lo que ella describe como “páginas de un diario abierto, olvidado sobre una mesa”. Por último, una serie de imágenes realizadas por la directora española de cine Isabel Coixet, artista invitada de C PHOTO en su séptima entrega, y acompañadas de textos manuscritos por ella misma, presentan localizaciones de “películas no realizadas”.

I am in a great show at the Art Institute of Chicago. My piece is titled "Week of the Perfect Game" and includes photos made, and printed, during a one week stint in Chicago this summer.

For me, the key to this piece is a translucent printing of a photo I made of Lake Michigan, which was printed and applied to the windows that face out from the AIC Modern Wing photo gallery.





The Modern Wing of the Art Institute is actually built ON Lake MIchigan, it's a human made shore line that extends several blocks into the lake.

"Most of the material underneath the eastern sidewalk along Michigan Avenue, including under the Art Institute, consists of the debris from the Great Chicago Fire. East of Grant Park out in the lake, the breakwaters that protect Monroe Harbor from wave action are visible."

This one day exhibition wouldn't have been possible without many people, including Ivory Press, La Casa Encendida, the entire Hola. Como Estas? taller group and the Spanish Ministry for Equality.

We gave away flashlights so that people could get a better look at the photos.




The Solar included 3 photos printed at 4 meters wide, an incredible outdoor projection, and a number of small photos that people were able to see with flashlights.

Newspapers were distributed and included 10 of my photos in poster format and a double spread of the Hola. Como Estas? taller photos.

The exhibition followed a 5 block route and the Hola. Como Estas taller wallpapered areas with semi translucent brown paper and then the photos were hung on top. Other photos were placed in various places along the route, on walls and in store windows.




















More later, because now I'm on a 2 day vacay.

Budget is done, route is done, 2 simultaneous projections will be happening, newspapers will be distributed... all over at 2AM tomorrow.

These 3 ended up being the big ones.

The woman in the portrait that I wanted at Carrefour said no to having her image in the street, so indoor slideshow only for that image. I have to choose the big ones tonight and will swap out that one for another. Jesus Fucking Christ this is a lot of work y NO HABLO ESPANOL. Pero, todos los dias un poco mas. Pero muy muy poquito.
