Important Info.

------------Remember, RAIN OR SHINE. You'll be under an overpass, and if it rains you'll stay dry.

1. There is a lot of walking to see this installation. It's a total of 2 square city blocks, so be prepared. I will have bottles of water at the info/sales table that you can grab.

2. The info/sales table will be on the Miffin St. side of the undepass. It's not necessary to stop there, but I will have maps and lists of the photos included in the installation. Remember, you can start and end anywhere in the installation, the numbers are only for ease of purchase and if you wanted to know where the photo was made. The previous post is a printable map of the exhibit, if you'd like to print out your own. The list of photos is subject to change up until the day before the show and I will post the finished list around 5am on May 1st.

3. There will be at least 2 color photocopies of every photo in the exhibiton available for purchase. All photos are 5 dollars. If you are interested in buying a photo that is sold out, please contact me at and you can either come pick it up at my studio within the week or I can mail it to you.

4. Here are DIRECTIONS to the show.

5. Two people will be manning the sales/info table from 1 to 3 and those 2 people are Mr. Manuel Dominguez, Jr. and Mr. John Powell. They are bright and charming young men who can answer many of your questions and help you if you are interested in making a purchase. I will also be able to answer questions. However, I will most likely be semi comatose and unable to be my usual erudite self.

Thank You

And all who have supported me in this last year

An extra special thank you to my #1 mom who brought me an extra set of car keys when I locked my keys in the car in the Fresh Fields parking lot and then came to my house to check for my laptop when I thought I could have left it outside. Mom, you are awesome.

Printable I-95.05 Map

95 show map 2005 finemail copy

Thank you Citizens Alliance and you handsome devil DiCicco

This is the first year I will not be cleaning under the highway with my usual group of helpers...Lynn Bloom, Ilene Baker and Manny Dominguez, Jr. Last year Manny's friend Jeff also helped and Jason Silen did his community service time cleaning up underneath 95.

This year the cleanup will be done by Citizens Alliance for Better Neighborhoods. They will be doing a full cleaning on Friday, May 29th and then I will chalk the numbers on Saturday and begin set up at 6 am on Sunday. I am so grateful for the cleaning help...last year they gave me brooms and bags to do the work and all but 2 of the brooms were stolen when we were cleaning at the Morris St. end. Plus, it took us 12 hours total to do the cleaning and we still needed to clean on the day of.

Now I come to Christian DiCicco. The support Christian has given me in the last year is immeasurable. It is certain that without him this installation would not be nearly as sucessful.
Thanks, DiCicco. You are awesome.

As a side note, I love Citizen's Alliance so much I will be doing my 24 hours of community service with them.

civic center3-1-1email

Well, well. I was arrested last week for defiant trespass at the civic center demolition site. I had apparently walked into the no trespassing area and was surrounded by 4 police cars as I went to drive home. I had a full arrest with the statement, "You're locked up, you're locked up" made to me many times and then was handcuffed, frisked, put in the back of the car and driven to my holding cell at 40th and Walnut. The arresting officer was very pleasant and called Ms. Bloom to tell her that I had been arrested and she should order a pizza for dinner since I would be a while.

The officers were perfectly friendly. Except that they went through the entire process of actually arresting me. After close to 2 hours in my holding cell, I was released and was informed that I had to go to court the next day at 8:30am as I had been charged with trespass. I mean, are you fucking kidding me?

The end of this story, and believe me, there's plenty more to this story, is that, on the advice of my legal council, I will go back to court, plead guilty, enroll in the "alternative program" and serve 24 hours of community service.

One of the many ironies in this story, and believe me, there are plenty more ironic moments in this story, is that these civic center photos are very boring. They're just snapshots of the demolition.

The show of shows, need I say more.

In doing my work, I always believe that I can go wherever I want, whenever I want. I can see whatever I desire to see and I can speak to anyone who I want to. Try to stop me, fuckers.

With Love,

final editing

It's very important for me to choose images that are strong enough to withstand not so great quality reproduction for the I-95 show.

This is one of my favorite photos taken this year, but it's too subtle to be read fully after it's been blown up on a color copier, laminated, then shown outside under an underpass with no lighting.

tape from torn down postersemail

This photo has lost a lot of detail in the final reproduction for the show, but even with the loss of detail, it's good to go. In the upper left hand window, a pigeon is sitting on the windowsill but you can't make it out in the copy. Although that's an important detail missing, the image isn't weakened at all by it's loss.

marines billboard2-1 for web site copy

Often photos that I would love to include don't make it into the show because of the loss of detail in the process of reproducing them. Others I love don't make it in because they don't fit into the overall syntax.

I'm having a hard time placing this photo, but it might make it in at the last minute.

For this year's I-95 show, I will be installing 231 photographs...almost all from last year and 90 new. It seems impossible to have that many solid images ready, but I've gone through the work about one million times and it's there.
Now, here's what I must do,

complete the order of the photos
about half of the images to be installed are already copied. I need to copy the other hundred and twenty or so for exhibition
touch up the images that are a little dusty
send out for laminate and adhesive
cut to size
clean and number under 95
if needed, paint under 95
sort 5 dollar photos and insure there are at least 2 copies available of every image, copy those images that don't have 2 ready for sale

I probably can't expect to be on the cover of the weekend section this year, so I'll have to do a little more press stuff. Why am I typing this when I should be doing other work? Because I'm out of my fucking mind.
