If you are from Philadelphia, or a close surrounding suburb, and someone else from Philadelphia, or a close surrounding suburb, asks you "where did you go to school?" the question is "where did you go to high school?" and if it's been established that you are from the same neighborhood the question is "where did you go to grade school and high school?"

Note for out of towners and transplants: If someone asks you where you are from, the answer is not where you attended college, it is where you were born and raised, and where you have just come from and where you are now.

It's the same here in New Orleans: high school is short-hand for your whole background and upbringing, where you're coming from. (College, I suppose, would be more of an indication of where you want to be going.)

That's great to hear... I think Philadelphia and New Orleans are a lot a like.
