referential: Henri Cartier-Bresson

It's important to me to reference the history of photography and art as part of the fabric of my work. Damn right! For the pushpin installation in Lectoure I absolutely needed to include a photo that paid homage to Henri Cartier-Bresson.

interesting how nowadays, in france, people like bresson, atget, kertesz wouldn't have been able to take the photos they would have taken due to the new laws about ownership of one's image. i'm sure their genius would've created something just as incredible, but where would we be today if they weren't taking the 'man on the street' photos they did back then?!

Hi Zoe

Wondering if you could expand a bit more on "It's important to me to reference the history of photography and art as part of the fabric of my work."

Always in interested in how other artists deal with the tug of the past as they move into the future.
